Live With Audacity
When faced with something new—a task, a role, a big responsibility—have you ever doubted yourself? Have you questioned if you’re truly capable of pulling it off? Or when asking for that raise or promotion, have you found yourself wondering if you even deserve to ask, despite your track record saying otherwise?
If you haven’t, I genuinely applaud you. It’s a gift not to carry self-doubt into everything you do. But if you have, then you’re in the company of a fellow self-doubter.
Just recently, a moment at work reminded me of a lesson I’ve had to relearn over and over again: opportunities are everywhere. They exist, waiting to be claimed—but only by those who are brave enough to reach for them.
Months ago, I got passed over for a promotion—simply because I didn’t ask for it. I convinced myself it wasn’t the right time. But here’s the twist: my managers would have been more than happy to give it to me. Instead, the colleagues who spoke up, who *asked*, got prioritized. That day I learned something that stung but also stuck with me—believing I deserve it is *my* responsibility.
Still, the doubts creep in: There are so many people better than me. Maybe I’m not ready for the next level. What if I promise too much and fail? Sound familiar?
Here’s the truth I’m reminding myself (and maybe you too): You are meant to ask for more. Not because you need to build an empire or chase some grand definition of success, but simply because—you deserve it.
And what you deserve won’t always arrive neatly on a silver platter. Sometimes, even after doing the work, you still have to ask. And that ask takes courage.
So I began asking—for the project I’d been craving, for the change I knew I needed. I didn’t just ask once; I followed up, I made my case clear, and I stayed persistent even when it wasn’t easy. And guess what? I’m now being considered for the very roles I thought were out of reach.
So here’s my reminder: live with a little audacity. Because in asking, you show people your worth. You open doors. You invite opportunities that wouldn’t exist otherwise.
So go on—SHOOT THAT SHOT. Ask for the raise. Ask for the promotion. Ask for the project you’ve been quietly dreaming about. You deserve it and so much more —maybe even more than you realize.
Because the worst that can happen is a “no.” The best? You’ll step into the life you always knew you deserved.

This was a good one for me. Most of the time people speak of going through open doors.. but what about the closed doors that are already unlocked, all you have to do is twist the knob and open the door.
Sometimes things are available to you, to me. But how could we know if we don’t take a little action? Really great post!
Great point! This is also something we forget - we need to ask for what we want. People won't automatically see our promise, build us up, and offer it to us because we are good people, good at our jobs, or hard workers. This is a truly important message - thank you for sharing! Looking forward to following along to learn more!
